While notions of considering alcohol (in raw form such as Whiskey and not medicines), is considered wrong among many religions and eastern societies, such a concept is considered preposterous in western nations. To test both theories, let’s take a look at the demerits of alcohol and see if they make alcohol worth the drink.

Rape Rates, Sexual Assault And Alcohol

According to figures, Of the 12.1 million American women who have been raped, almost 30% have been victims of this crime below the age of 11.  Furthermore, another 32% were raped between the ages of 11 and 17; 22% were raped when they were 18 and 24; 10% of them were between the ages of 25 and 28. Another 6% of rapes occurred in women over the age of 29.

Other Dangers Of Alcohol

  • Alcohol is basically a depressant and can lead to depression.
  • For those people who think that a beer or some champagne does not hurt are wrong, as fizzy drinks like champagnes and sparkling wines affect health more quickly than other drinks. This is because the alcohol in them enters the bloodstream more quickly.
  • The adverse effects of alcohol are close to the ones seen with other sedative-hypnotics. In fact, withdrawal side effects and dependence are quite identical. Alcohol even at moderate levels has many negative effects, including increased risk of liver disease, cancer (such as oropharyngeal cancer and cancer of the esophageal).
  • The same amount of alcohol affects light people, just like heavy people, as becomes extra concentrated in the blood.
  • The same amount of alcohol affects women more than men. The body weight has nothing to do with it, as men have higher body water content and so the alcohol is more diluted.
  • Nearly 3 million violent crimes occur yearly due to alcohol. Victims of such crimes have reported that the offender has been drinking at the time of offense. These victims provided information about the offender’s alcohol usage and almost 35% victims were involved a drinking offender

These are just some of the stats related to the destruction that alcohol has caused. Raw forms and even medicated addition of alcohol is a drug, no different from other banned drugs that eat up people and destroy lives like Termites eat wood.
